Investing in A New Website…Is It Worth It?

If you want to do it properly – and you should – having a website built for your business will represent a significant investment.

Our customers are often concerned about how long it will take them to repay their investment and start profiting from their website.

When it comes down to it, the decision about whether to proceed or not doesn’t come down to facts or figures, it depends wholly on their wider approach to business….

Increasing your online visibility isn’t simply about generating more of the same type of leads that you’ve been getting through local advertising, cold calling or personal recommendations. The internet has the potential to put your shop window in front of anyone in the world.

Almost without exception, our clients have been amazed at the opportunities that the internet has created. It can lead to international sales, partnerships, endorsements, and promotional opportunities you had previously only dreamed of.

Though there are many companies who understand the power, and potential benefits, of increased online visibility, there are many who take a very blinkered approach. The best way to illustrate the potential benefits to their business is often with a real world example.

So here goes…

A few months ago we started work on a website for a local PC repair and IT support company. They were very cautious about investing in their new website because their average job only brought in between £30 and £40 profit. To repay their investment the website would have to generate an incredible number of jobs. Still, despite their reservations, we convinced them to proceed.

A month or so later the website went live. Within just two weeks of the site being live they got an email from a large company in South West England. It’s one of their biggest contracts to date!

This is a prime example of how it’s often impossible to see the doors that the internet might open for a company. If the sole aim of this company’s website was to generate small, one off jobs then, yes, it would take a long time before the investment was repaid. However, within just 2 weeks of the website being live it generated a highly lucrative lead that promises to generate revenue for years to come.

We have seen so many examples like this. If you embrace the online approach you will enjoy opportunities you hadn’t anticipated, imagined or hoped for. If you are thinking about whether you should bring your business into the digital age our advice is do it!

The internet opens up a whole world of opportunities that you don’t see until they are presented to you. Unless you put your business out there, it’s your competitors who will get these opportunities, and in the process, leave you behind.
